This morning was going well until I realised that we'd give the wrong start point to Jeff. Some how I'd copied the last checkpoint from tomorrow as the start for today and Jeff was waiting there for me in pouring rain, with no signal. So we swung past there over to see whether he'd got the message and give him a lift to start. Luckily he was waiting on the road for us, he jumped in and we headed to the start, this little detour put us half an hour late starting. We met Lloyd at the actual start point and with introductions made the three of us headed off into the drizzle and rain. The forecast was for showers, clearing into the afternoon and that is what happened. The first 25 km was on some great trails, but my legs were just feeling quite fatigued, nothing too bad just a bit sore and tired. I plugged on and we got to CP2, from then on the coast path was tarmac or concrete, so the average pace increased slightly, but my legs didn't really like the change to 23 k on tarmac and I found it tricky to keep up a 9 min 1 min ratio.

I'm not sure exactly why but I struggled mentally today even though I had great company and was eating well, the middle part just felt ever so long and dragged quite a bit. I've been trying to review today to figure out why it felt draining and I am struggling to figure out whether there is anything that can be changed tomorrow or whether it is simply mental fatigue from the past few months. I'll just try and get a good nights sleep and lets the legs recover as much as possible and head out with a Positive Mental Attitude tomorrow, ready to face what comes at me. As you will be aware, I've learnt to take each day as a new day and deal with what happens on the day rather than worrying about previous days or future days. The only day I can control is today and the only moment I can control is now. With that note I'm going to sign off and get to bed.
